If you have bad news to tell, such as a family bereavement or the breaking up of a personal relationship for example, with wife or girlfriend, please ensure the prison authorities know before you give the bad news. Any such news could have a traumatic and distressing effect on anyone located in prison. Prior knowledge would enable the prison staff to ease the prisoner through his time of crisis.
